The East Montpelier Fire Department (EMFD) is the proud occupant of the new Emergency Services Facility located in East Montpelier, VT. The new facility is Owned by the town’s of East Montpelier & Calais and the EMFD provides fire and ambulance service to both. This new 7,200 SF wood framed building is outfitted with up-to-date communication systems, training spaces, offices, locker rooms and a 4-bay apparatus area that will serve the needs of EMFD and the communities they serve for years to come.

Connor Contracting, Inc was hired as the Construction Manager and we were involved with this project from the beginning. We worked with the Owner, architect, engineer and EMFD volunteers to bring this project from the conceptual budgets to final occupancy.

The energy efficient elements of this modern facility include R-20 foundation insulation, R-40 wall insulation, and R-60 roof insulation. All of the exterior windows are triple-glazed units and the wood pellet boiler supplies the building with heat and hot water.  

There is on-site underground water storage that is reserved for the building’s self-contained sprinkler system. In addition, there is an underground water storage tank that is available for re-filling trucks from within the apparatus bays.
