Our latest project with Copley Hospital is complete - a new 1,530 SF addition and 960 SF renovation within the hospital’s most restricted area, the surgical suite. Together, these new spaces house a fourth operating room and an expanded sterile instrument storage area. We successfully delivered this project on time and within the hospital’s budget.

Our team worked closely with the hospital’s surgical and facilities teams before and during the project to ensure that all construction activities did not interrupt the daily activities of their busy surgical suite, which is immediately adjacent to the work zone. This required diligence by on-site crew leaders to maintain the highest safety standards, consistent air and contaminant monitoring, negative air pressure, and isolation from the daily operation of the existing operating theaters.

Other work required to complete this project included:

· Coordinating the installation of roof mounted mechanical equipment

· Extending med gases into the new operating room including ports within both the overhead boom and three walls to accommodate optional surgical equipment configurations

· Installing overhead structural steel supporting beams, fire suppression sprinkler lines with recessed heads, and electrical/voice/data cabling required for surgical equipment

· Planning and placement of infrastructure for the potential use of robotic surgical equipment

· Design and install a custom integration cabinet for the boom-mounted equipment (as well as replacing the integration cabinets in the three existing operating theaters)

· Coordinating the installation of additional equipment within the decontamination and CSR areas

· Installing final finishes within the back corridor and surgical support areas

· Completing the exterior finishes to closely match the existing brick facade, reconfiguring the parking lot and traffic areas for both vehicles and pedestrians, and installing new landscaping
