Shippee Family Eye Care - Montpelier

This modern eye care facility is located within the historic Alvarez Block on Main Street in Montpelier. Our work included re-framing and repairing the wood framed, brick veneer structure from the basement up to the roofline, which was previously compromised by fire damage, interior alterations, and age. We installed all new interior finishes throughout the building as well as new mechanical, electrical and fire protection. One of our biggest challenges was combining three first-floor storefronts, each with a different floor elevation into one seamless floor plan for the reception area. In addition to creating an ADA accessible eye care practice on the first floor, we built and finished three private apartments on the second floor. The result is a new energy efficient mixed-use facility with a main street presence and off-street parking. This is a great example of downtown revitalization.
